A man has been convicted of murder after stabbing his victim to death in York.

Ian Franklin, 33, had been on trial at Leeds Crown Court.

Greg Marshall, 35, suffered fatal knife wounds on the 17th of August 2024.

The court heard how he tried to run away from the scene on Roche Avenue but collapsed and died in an alleyway.

Today a jury found Ian Franklin, from Roche Avenue, guilty of his murder following a five week trial.

He will be sentenced at a later date.

Shortly after his death Greg Marshall's family issued the following statement:

""It’s with the deepest sadness that we as a family are having to announce the sudden passing of Greg Marshall, Our beloved Son, Father, Husband, Brother, Uncle and loyal friend to many far and wide.

"Our hearts are broken and we ask that you please respect our privacy whilst we process this tragedy."
