An 82-year-old woman has been left with a brain bleed following a serious assault in Scarborough, police say.

Emergency services were called out to St John's Road, close to the junction of Falsgrave Road at around 1pm on 7 May.

They'd had reports of a man assaulting an elderly woman.

The 82-year-old victim was taken to hospital after suffering a bleed on the brain.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information that could help their investigation to come forward.

They especially want to speak to a couple who they believe were in the area at the time.

Reports can be made by emailing [email protected] or by calling 101 and asking for Charles Thornton, quoting reference 12260107037.
