Couple seriously assaulted while waiting for taxi in Selby

A couple have been seriously assaulted at the taxi rank in Selby.

It happened in the Market Place around midnight on Saturday 22nd March and Sunday 23rd March 2025.

A husband and wife were waiting for a taxi in the rain following a night out. in Selby Town, but when the taxi arrived two men appeared and pushed in front of them.

The husband required hospital treatment after he was allegedly punched and knocked unconscious.

His wife was reportedly assaulted and suffered hand and arm injuries.

The two suspects left in a taxi.

The injured man was wearing a white t-shirt and a stone Carhartt overshirt, blue jeans and trainers with an orange stripe.

The injured woman was wearing a black knee-length dress with a dark blue denim jacket, and a green handbag and knee-length boots.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and trying to locate the relevant taxi firms for further information.

There is currently no description of the two suspects.

North Yorkshire Police have said:
