Pedestrian killed in fatal collision in Carlton Miniott named by police

Christine Whiting's family said she would be "sadly missed"

A woman who was killed in a fatal collision in Carlton Miniott has been named by North Yorkshire Police.

Officers were alerted to an incident taking place on Carlton Road in the village near Thirsk at around 2pm on July 9th.

When responders arrived on the scene, they found that a grey Kia Sportage having collided with a pedestrian.

Emergency services were called to the scene to provide immediate medical attention, but despite their best efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

North Yorkshire Police have now named the woman as 78-year-old Christine Whiting, who lived in the local area.

In a tribute, Christine's family said of her: "Much loved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Will be sadly missed."

The driver of the Kia, an 80-year-old man from Thirsk, was not injured in the clash. He was arrested at the scene and has since been bailed by police.

Meanwhile, an investigation has been launched into the incident, with anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash to get in touch.
