Bertie the dog got stuck in dense undergrowth at the bottom of a steep embankment
A 16-year-old dog has been rescued after becoming trapped in thick undergrowth at the bottom of a steep embankment in Flamborough.
Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team was called to help after Bertie the dog became stuck and his owners were unable to reach him.
Rescuers made their way down the embankment, found Bertie and safely brought him back to the top, where he was reunited with his owners.
Despite his ordeal, Bertie was none the worse.
Station Officer Jordan Grebby said: "We usually get called to dogs over the cliff, but this one was so very different! Bertie's owners did exactly the right thing and, when they realised he was stuck, called 999 and asked for the Coastguard. This meant we could get to Bertie quickly and safely reunite him with his owners."
The Coastguard is reminding people that if they get into difficulty around the coast, they should call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
