A stereo and dozens of CDs have been seized from a council flat in York following noise complaints.

A warrant was issued for the flat on Margaret Street, and the items were seized by officers on 6th February.

York Council say they received complaints about loud music being played at night from neighbours back in December.

Officers went on to monitor sound levels by visiting the neighbours' home.

The music played included songs from the 1980s and David Bowie.

It was played at anti-socially high volumes throughout the night, officers say.

The council issued two notices to the address, but neither were listened to and the music continued.

The warrant to seize the stereo and CDs was granted as the tenant broke their Noise Abatement Notice.
