York families invited to money-saving advice sessions this summer
York Talk Money Fortnight offers support and guidance
This summer, City of York Council and its partners, including Citizens Advice and Age UK, are hosting York Talk Money Fortnight to provide families with essential information, advice, and support on making their money stretch further during challenging times.
July's event focuses on assisting families with accessing financial support relating to Universal Credit, Free School Lunches, and the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF).
Families receiving Healthy Start can also obtain help with healthy food costs, milk, and vitamin fees, while support is available for secondary school uniform expenses.
The initiative comprises two family-friendly drop-in sessions, welcoming individuals seeking support and guidance:
Acomb WMC on Wednesday, 8th July from 10am to 2pm
York Community Stadium on Sunday, 12th July from 10.30am to 3pm
The sessions will feature experts offering assistance with energy bills, debt, school provisions, and Healthy Start vouchers, creating opportunities for attendees to explore personalised solutions.
Cllr Bob Webb, City of York Council’s Executive Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: “We know that the more families are feeling the impact from the continued rise in the cost of living. The message from York Talk Money Fortnight is simple: help and advice is available locally and there’s lots that you can do to make your money go further this summer.
“From support if you’re struggling with energy bills and debt, help with school uniform or school lunches, and Healthy Start vouchers, our team of experts can help you find the right option for you. Pop along to our family-friendly advice sessions and chat to our friendly advisers.”
Regular York Talk Money sessions available throughout the year provide residents of all ages with financial advice and support.
