Woman seriously injured after being hit by vehicle in Malton

A woman has been seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in Malton.
It happened on Railway Street at the junction with Water Lane this morning and involved a skip loader.
A woman in her 70s has been taken to York Hospital for treatment.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs following a positive roadside drugs wipe.
Police are appealing to anyone who saw the wagon or the pedestrian in the moments before the collision happened and the collision itself, to contact them.
They are also asking motorists, who were passing through, for any dashcam footage that may have captured the vehicle, the pedestrian or the collision on camera.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to attend to the casualty and for collision investigators to examine the scene. It reopened at around 11.45am.
Police are thanking the local community for their assistance and patience whilst they investigated the scene and carried out collision investigation work.
