Woman arrested on suspicion of arson after residential fire in Great Ayton

A woman in her 40s has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a residential fire in Great Ayton this morning (8th April).

Emergency services were called at around 6.20am to reports of a fire at a residential premises in Woodbine Close.

Fire crews from Coulby Newham, Stokesley and Northallerton responded.

Crews have since got the fire under control and there were no reported injuries.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said "Detectives investigating the cause of the fire are appealing to anyone who has any information or saw any suspicious activity in the area between 4.30am and 6.30am, to get in touch.

"They’re also appealing to anyone who has private CCTV or doorbell footage and passing motorists with dashcams, that may have caught any suspicious activity on camera to contact them."
