Man dies after collision outside bar in Thirsk

Police are investigating

A 61-year-old man has died after being struck by a Mercedes A Class car in Thirsk on Sunday night.

The collision occurred just before 10.30pm outside the Nova Bar on Market Place.

Emergency services, including firefighters and paramedics, attended the scene, but the man could not be saved.

The driver, a 46-year-old from Darlington, is assisting the police with their investigation.

Market Place was closed to traffic until 6am the following morning to facilitate emergency service work and vehicle recovery.

Police urge anyone with information, particularly CCTV or dashcam footage, to contact them.
