A spokesperson for the force said, "We would like to thank the members of the public who stopped to help at the scene of the incident and are appealing to any witnesses including any motorists with dashcam footage to get in touch if they have not spoken to us already.
"In particular, we would like to speak to a driver who turned left onto Bridge Road from Holme Lane, immediately before the collision and as the black BMW pulled into Holme Lane.
