Suspects flee after crashing Range Rover into house in Topcliffe
Police continue search for man and woman involved in pursuit
Authorities are working to locate two suspects who escaped on foot after a Range Rover crashed into the side of a house in Topcliffe following a pursuit.
The incident began at approximately 3.10am on Wednesday 17th June 2026, when a Roads Policing officer identified the silver 4x4 speeding on the north-bound A1(M) near Boroughbridge.
The driver did not stop, prompting police to authorise a chase with the assistance of a helicopter.
The Range Rover left the A1(M) and travelled towards Topcliffe.
At 3.20am, officers discovered the vehicle lodged into the side of a house on East Lea, with witnesses reporting seeing a man and a woman fleeing the scene.
Fortunately, the occupants of the property were unharmed.
An extensive search operation followed, utilising officers, a police dog, a drone, and the helicopter.
Despite these efforts, the suspects remain at large.
North Yorkshire Police continue to collaborate with Cleveland Police, where the Range Rover is registered, to trace them.
Forensic examination of the vehicle is underway.
The police have appealed for witnesses or individuals with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage to assist in the investigation.
