Offender from Stockport jailed for raping sex worker in North Yorkshire
Offender placed on sex offenders register indefinitely after York Crown Court conviction
Eisen Vir Raganit, a 46-year-old from Westwood Road, Stockport, has been sentenced to five years in prison following his conviction for raping a sex worker.
He was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely during his appearance at York Crown Court on 6th October 2026.
The offence occurred in October 2024, when Vir Raganit visited the victim's home in North Yorkshire after booking an experience advertised on her website, which stipulated condom use.
During the encounter, Vir Raganit removed the condom without the victim's consent, an act known as "stealthing," after which the victim immediately challenged him and reported the incident to the police.
Police investigations uncovered material relevant to the case on Vir Raganit's mobile phone, including videos that depicted non-consensual condom removal. He pleaded not guilty, but the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict in August 2026.
The victim expressed her relief at reporting the offence, highlighting its importance for others in the sex industry, and commended police for their support.
"Throughout the four years I had been working from home, I had never had anything like this happen to me before. I normally felt safe in my house, but this incident made me more aware of my safety. I wasn’t sure whether to report it to the police at first, and I wasn’t even sure if it was a sexual assault, but I am glad I reported it now."
Lorraine Whipp of North Yorkshire Police praised the victim for her bravery during the process, stressing the importance of reporting sexual offences regardless of occupation.
The victim's occupation was shared to support others in similar circumstances, with victim anonymity protected in law.
