Six arrested in police crackdown on crime and antisocial behaviour around Catterick and Colburn
Those held include a 14-year-old e-scooter rider and four men accused of stealing a shed from a church
Six people have been arrested as part of ongoing work to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour in the Catterick and Colburn areas.
North Yorkshire Police said the arrests followed a series of separate pieces of activity by officers over recent weeks.
E-scooter rider arrested
On Monday 10th August, officers were alerted by local CCTV operators to the antisocial use of an e-scooter in Colburn.
Catterick response officers and members of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team located the rider and seized the e-scooter.
The rider, a 14-year-old boy, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and assaulting emergency workers.
He was later released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Man found with de-tagger at supermarket
Two days later, on Wednesday 12th August, police received a report from Tesco in Catterick Garrison that a suspected shoplifter had been detained by store security.
Officers from the Catterick Neighbourhood Policing Team and response attended the scene.
Following a search of the suspect, officers found a large magnetic de-tagger in the man's possession.
The 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal and has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Four men arrested over church theft
The arrests follow proactive work by the Richmondshire Neighbourhood Policing Team into a theft from St Cuthbert's Church in Colburn.
It was reported that over a four-week period a resin storage shed had been stolen from the premises, along with two lawnmowers which were stored inside.
As a result of the investigation, which was supported by specialist officers and response colleagues, four local men, aged between 22 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of theft and conspiracy to steal.
All four have since been released on conditional bail while enquiries remain ongoing.
