A Section 34 Dispersal Order is now active in York city centre following significant anti-social behaviour by a group of young people.

Officers responded to multiple reports of nuisance and damage within business premises, climbing scaffolding, and shop thefts during the afternoon and evening.

The dispersal order, effective until midnight tonight, covers the designated area depicted on the map.

Under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, this order grants officers the power to direct individuals involved in anti-social behaviour to leave the area.

Non-compliance or returning to the area during the order may result in arrest.

Parents and guardians are urged to ensure they are aware of their children's whereabouts tonight.

The police are prioritising safety and have increased patrols in the area.

Businesses and the public are thanked for their patience and support.

Witnesses or those with information should report criminal behaviour by calling 999 for immediate threats or 101 for other cases.
