Scunthorpe man who died in York's River Ouse named by police

Police have now identified the man who died in the River Ouse in York as 19-year-old Evan Geoffrey d'Andilly.

Evan, who was 19 and a student at the University of York, was from Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire and was recovered from the water by police divers at 11.45am yesterday (5th March).

He was reported to have entered the river from Ouse Bridge in the city centre at 3.06am.

Officers believe there to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding Evan's death.

A report is now being compiled on behalf of the coroner.

Police are continuing to ask for witnesses to the incident or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward as soon as possible.
