Firefighters continue monitoring after major commercial fire in Scunthorpe
Crews dampen hotspots and advise caution due to smoke
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service was dispatched to a significant fire at a commercial property on Winterton Road in Scunthorpe at 5.18pm on Monday, 13th July.
The response included six fire engines, a turntable ladder, a drone, and various specialist resources to tackle the blaze.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, followed by damping down to prevent any further spread, with assistance from site staff who helped remove materials from the scene.
The effort was scaled back after 9pm, but crews continued monitoring and damping down hotspots until they left at 4.40am on Tuesday, 14th July.
A crew returned at 7am on Tuesday morning to conduct a further inspection and confirmed there were no signs of reignition.
Monitoring will continue through the day to ensure safety.
Residents and individuals in the vicinity may still notice smoke and a smoky smell, and it is advised to keep windows and doors closed where possible to mitigate its effects.
