A baby seal was found lying in the road in Scarborough this morning (19th February), after taking an unexpected detour.
Staff at Me'N'u Scarborough on Royal Albert Drive discovered the seal pup while on their way into work.
They quickly called the British Divers Marine Life Rescue.
Claire, described as an "actual seal-saving legend" by staff, arrived on the scene to assist in safely relocating the pup.
"There was a brief moment of flipper-based indecision, a bit of shuffling about, and then he was gently guided into a crate like the tiny dramatic VIP he is", Me'N'u posted on Facebook.
"He’s now having a peaceful snooze as though this morning’s adventure was simply a light stretch before breakfast.
"Scarborough traffic: mildly confused.
"Seal pup: unbothered."
The seal is said to be resting on the foreshore near the The Grand Hotel Scarborough.
A British Divers Marine Life Rescue spokesperson said, "Heavy tides can push seal pups further up the beach in search of safety so they can sleep and reserve energy - occasionally, as in this case, they may find themselves in dangerous locations and at real risk of injury.
"The seal is well and resting in a safer spot, and is being monitored by our Medics to help ensure it can rest without disturbance."
Dog walkers are being asked to keep dogs on leads, to let him recover in peace.
