The next phase of repair works to a football pitch at Scarborough Sports Village are set to begin on Monday 2nd March.

The repairs aim to restore the pitch, which is used by Scarborough Athletic Football Club and Scarborough Ladies Football Club.

A site survey last year found issues with the 3G pitch, which led to its closure for the 2025/26 season.

Repairs are expected to take eight to ten weeks, so its hoped the pitch will be ready ahead of the new season starting in August.

A spokesperson for Scarborough Athletic FC said: "This marks a significant milestone in facilitating our return home".

Councillor Simon Myers said: “This is a major step forward to securing the future of the pitch and bringing it back into use.

“This is a very important sports facility for our communities and all the fans of the football clubs, and we are committed to making sure that the pitch is back in use as soon as possible.”

While the repairs are ongoing, Scarborough Athletic is hosting its fixtures at Bridlington Town’s ground.
