Five arrests after fans invade pitch during Rochdale v York City match

Police investigate a video circulating online of possible player assault

A Rochdale v York City football match on Saturday led to several arrests after fans entered the pitch.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that five men were arrested in connection with the incident.

Four male Rochdale fans face charges: one on suspicion of assault and pitch incursion, another for a public order offence, and two for pitch incursion.

Additionally, a male York City fan was arrested on suspicion of assault.

He will be interviewed by the police at a later date.

Authorities are examining footage of a possible assault involving a player, seen in a video circulating online.

Police are collaborating with both clubs and the National League to assess the video and review CCTV footage of the incident.
