Police divers recover man’s body from the River Ouse in York
It's believed that it could be the body of a missing 19-year-old
Police searching for a missing teenager in York have found a body in the River Ouse.
At 11.45am today (5th March), a man's body was recovered by a Police Under Water Search Unit.
It's believed that this could be the body of the missing 19-year-old man who was reported to have entered the river from Ouse Bridge in the city centre shortly after 3am this morning.
Officers say his family have been updated and are receiving specialist support.
Formal identification hasn't taken place yet and police believed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report is now being compiled on behalf of the coroner.
Police are continuing to ask witnesses to the incident or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward as soon as possible.
