Plans being drawn up to make York’s Christmas Market more accessible
The council’s executive has agreed to look at more parking spaces, rest stops, and different opening hours
York’s Christmas Market could see big changes in the way it’s run, after concerns about its impact on disabled people.
City of York Council is backing extra Blue Badge parking, more rest areas and possibly changing opening times in a bid to help.
But some disabled people say the new plans don’t go far enough, while business owners warn against changes that could hit trade.
There are also calls for a permanent ban on cars in the city centre during big events, which would affect Blue Badge holders.
