Woman in 70s dies after car crashes into tree in Northallerton

Officers are appealing for witnesses

A woman in her 70s has died following a crash in Northallerton yesterday (27th January).

Officers said a red Kia Stonic left the B6271 near the Streetlam turnoff and crashed into a tree at around 6.55pm.

The driver, a woman in her 70s, was pronounced dead.

The road was closed until around 1am today.

Officers are now appealing for information.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said, "We would like to appeal for any witnesses to the collision who have not yet spoken to us.

"We would also like to be contacted if you have any dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision or of the vehicle driving along the B6271 prior to the collision.

"Please email our Major Collision Investigation Team at [email protected] and mention ref 12260016507."
