Serious collision closes A19 northbound near Thirsk

The A19 northbound in North Yorkshire is closed between the A168 near Thirsk and the A61 due to a serious collision that occurred early this morning.
The accident was reported at 1:47am, resulting in emergency services and National Highways Traffic Officers attending the scene for traffic management.
Service providers arrived to assess and address barrier damage, while recovery operations have been completed, and involved vehicles have left the scene.
A sweeper has been arranged to clear debris from the road.
Traffic initially caught within the closure has now been released.
Authorities have set up a diversion route for northbound travellers, marked by solid diamond symbols on road signs.
Motorists should exit the A168 towards Thirsk, taking the first exit at the roundabout onto the A170.
Travel north-west for approximately 800 metres.
At the A61/A170 roundabout, head straight over onto the A61 and continue for 2.4 kilometres.
Finally, at the roundabout with the A168, take the second exit to rejoin the A19 north entry slip road.
Drivers should allow extra travel time and consider rerouting or delaying their journey.
