Man jailed after 'drunken rampage' in Skipton
The 38 year-old threatened members of the public and spat at a police officer
A prolific offender from Skipton has been jailed for two years and three months.
Craig Robert Boyd, 38, was sentenced at York Crown Court on Friday (26 September 2025) after pleading guilty to four offences committed on the day, Monday 14 July this year, in Skipton.
These were breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order, assaulting an emergency worker, being drunk and disorderly and Section 4 public order.
The first report about Boyd’s alcohol-fuelled behaviour came into the police control room at 6.27pm when a man was shouting in the street on Mill Bridge and throwing items at cars on the roundabout at the top of the High Street.
At 6.46pm, another member of public reported a “drunken” man shouting abuse at people in the street, outside Pizza Express, which is just up the road from the first report.
At 7pm, a third report was made about a man spitting at cars and acting in a “menacing” way to a woman’s young daughter.
Five minutes later, the suspect was reported to have made a cut-throat gesture to a passer-by near the RAF Social Club, before he headed up to Shortbank Close.
This is where a fifth report was made at 7.06pm, by a woman who was subjected to swearing and threatening behaviour.
The sixth complaint came in at 7.21pm about a man chasing after a woman and her family, near the playing fields just off Shortbank Close.
Officers were called to the scene, and the suspect was quickly identified as Boyd.
He was seen to be drinking alcohol and swearing at the officers.
Boyd was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and Section 4 public order at 7.23pm.
This is when he assaulted one of the police officers, by spitting in his face during the search. Boyd was further arrested for this offence.
After checking the conditions of a Criminal Behaviour Order that Boyd had previously been made subject to, it was confirmed that he had breached it and was arrested for that too.
He was later charged with the four offences and remanded to appear at magistrates’ court the following day.
Sergeant Paul Evans, from the Craven Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Craig Boyd has been a nuisance in and around Skipton for many years and his behaviour completely spiralled out of control on this particular day.
“It was the persistent and targeted work by officers in Craven that secured his arrest and conviction at court, with excellent help from numerous witnesses and victims who supported the investigation.”
