£10,000-worth of lead stolen from heritage railway in Pickering

Two men have stolen £10,000-worth of lead and caused £20,000-worth of damage to a heritage railway line in Pickering, officers say.

The men reportedly drove to the North Yorkshire Moors railway on 23rd January at around 8.50pm, before climbing onto a roof and removing lead.

They're then thought to have fled towards Scarborough on the A170.

Officers are now appealing for the public's help after releasing CCTV images.

Anyone who saw a white car, believed to be a VW Tiguan, at the time of the incident is being urged to text the British Transport Police on 61016, or call 0800 40 50 40, using the reference 2600008502.
