An inquest is taking place today into the death of Khaled Basem Al Satouf. The 12-year-old, from Leeds, drowned in the River Swale in Richmond, North Yorkshire, on 16 August.

Witnesses reported seeing Khaled enter the river, and emergency services were called at around 17:00 BST, but his body was recovered later that evening.

An inquest into Khaled's death was opened at Northallerton Coroner's Court by Senior Coroner Jon Heath last year. He confirmed that the provisional cause of death was drowning.

Bouquets of flowers were left near Richmond Falls the day after the incident. Authorities have stated that Khaled's death is not being treated as suspicious.
