Investigation concludes no criminal offences in York man's death
Officers say they will continue high-visibility patrols in the area to offer further reassurance
After an investigation into the death of a man in York, police have determined that no criminal offences were involved.
North Yorkshire Police were informed in the early hours of Friday, 8th May, that paramedics were attending to a man in his 50s on Brownlow Street who was in cardiac arrest.
Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced deceased.
His family is receiving support from specially-trained officers during this difficult time.
Following extensive enquiries, including interviews with witnesses and the review of significant volumes of CCTV footage, police concluded that the man's death does not appear to be the result of any criminal activity.
A 56-year-old man, initially arrested in connection to the incident, has since been released from custody with no further action.
North Yorkshire Police said: “We know this tragic incident will have caused upset and concern in the local area. Neighbourhood Policing Team officers will continue to carry out high-visibility patrols there, to offer ongoing reassurance. We are grateful to the community for their support and understanding throughout the investigation.”
