Independent Domestic Abuse Services (IDAS) has disclosed the scale of its work in 2025, responding to 29,513 helpline calls and 20,762 referrals as the demand for domestic abuse and sexual violence support remains high.

Handling an average of 80 calls per day, IDAS serves communities across North and South Yorkshire, emphasising the prevalence of domestic abuse and the growing recognition of specialist services available in the region.

IDAS's helpline is just one component of their multifaceted support framework, which extends to drop-in sessions, training for health professionals, and community champions who can appropriately respond to disclosures of abuse and steer individuals toward the charity for specialized assistance.

IDAS CEO, Sarah Hill, noted, "In 2025, our dedicated teams have helped transform the lives of thousands of people through a range of accommodation, programmes and support."

"We have strengthened our whole-community approach, embedding specialist support in everyday settings and building partnerships that extend far beyond traditional service boundaries."

"We work to challenge the structures and systems that harm survivors, and we stand against the victim-blaming and damaging stereotypes that underpin the abuse of women and girls in our society."

Regarding future aspirations, Hill added, "During 2026 we will continue our transformational work, including through the provision of services and shining a light on systems that fail survivors."

As demand continues, IDAS calls for ongoing community awareness and cross-sector collaboration to ensure that everyone affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence is informed about the availability and reach of specialised support.
