Cordon in place as rape investigation launched in Micklegate

A man has been arrested following a reported rape in the Micklegate area of York.

Officers say the incident happened on Bar Lane at around 10pm on Tuesday 16 June.

The victim, a woman, is receiving specialist support.

The suspect is currently in custody for questioning.

A cordon is in place on Bar Lane as forensic examinations are on ongoing.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information that could help their investigation to call 101 quoting reference number 12260111552.
