Cannabis farm uncovered near Selby after police raid
Police found hundreds of plants and made four arrests following intelligence-led enquiries
A significant cannabis cultivation operation has been dismantled near Selby following a police raid.
Selby Neighbourhood Support Team and local officers executed the operation at a property on Doncaster Road in Burn on the morning of 6th May.
Inside, officers discovered a meticulously organised cannabis farm with hundreds of plants spread across various areas of the premises.
The setup, with its extensive layout and equipment, demonstrated a high level of planning and criminal sophistication.
An 18-year-old man and three individuals in their 30s have been arrested on suspicion of cultivating a Class-B drug, and are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
Inspector Rob Campbell from North Yorkshire Police emphasised the danger such large-scale operations pose to communities.
“These operations are far from minor or harmless. They often involve unsafe electrical alterations and increased fire risks, which can result in serious incidents such as power outages,” Campbell said.
He added an appeal for vigilance and information, urging landlords, letting agents, and members of the public to report anything unusual or suspicious as community intel is vital in combating organised crime networks.
