Police have arrested a teenage boy following a high speed pursuit across North and West Yorkshire.

Officers spotted a suspected stolen Jaguar yesterday morning (Tuesday 10th March) just over an hour after it was reported missing by its owner from an address in Selby.

They attempted to stop the vehicle at around 9:20am which then led to a pursuit that reached speeds of more than 100mph along the A65 from Skipton to Otley, travelling via Ilkley.

Several specialist units from North Yorkshire Police were sent to the area to help intercept the car along with colleagues from West Yorkshire.

The driver, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, burglary, failing to stop for police, criminal damage, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and resisting arrest.

Police say that no members of the public were injured and that they appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation while Bridge Street in Otley was temporarily blocked.
