The Boroughbridge annual duck race, originally scheduled for 30th August, has been cancelled due to elevated pollution levels in the river Tutt.

Organisers made this decision prioritising health and safety for volunteers, participants, and the community.

Individuals who purchased ducks for the race will receive a full refund by returning to their point of purchase.

While organisers are understandably disappointed by the disruption, they plan to resume the event next year.

Meanwhile, the Family Fun Day at the Fox and Hounds remains set to take place, offering activities from 12 noon until late, including a duck hunt.

Event coordinators expressed their frustration with the cancellation but reaffirm their commitment to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
