Man arrested after reports of suspicious activity at York park

He's been held on weapons and drugs charged, for obstructing police and assaulting an emergency worker.

A 31 year old man's in police custody after an incident at Tang Hall Park in York.

Police say they took several calls about an individual acting suspiciously and following a group of young people at around 7pm on Tuesday (14th April).

When they attended the scene a man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and class A drugs, obstructing a police officer and assaulting an emergency worker.

He was taken to hospital for assessment but transferred to police custody as investigations continue.

North Yorkshire force tell us they don't believe any young people were threatened and nobody was harmed.
