The Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, has expressed his delight in hosting Sir Kevin Sinfield's '7 in 7: The Grand Finale' challenge at Bishopthorpe Palace as part of a significant fundraising effort for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charities.

The final leg of Sinfield's annual fundraising challenges sees him and his team arriving at Bishopthorpe Palace on 28th September 2026. They will continue their journey across northern England the following day, ending the challenge at the Betfred Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on 3rd October 2026.

Sir Kevin and his supporters have raised over £11 million for MND-related charities since 2020, motivated by the legacy of his friend and former Leeds Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow CBE.

This year's challenge supports six charities within the MND community.

Archbishop Stephen Cottrell commented on Sinfield's endeavors:

"Kevin Sinfield's extraordinary commitment, courage and compassion have inspired people far beyond the Rugby League heartlands."

He highlighted the challenge's significance in showcasing the power of friendship, selfless service, and communal support, offering hope to those affected by MND.

Cottrell encouraged public support for Sinfield's team throughout the route, contributing to their noble fundraising mission.

Additional information regarding the challenge, including route and fundraising details, is available on the Leeds Rhinos website.
