A 58-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of arson after a campervan fire damaged nearby houses and cars in Acomb.

Fire crews were called out to Beaconsfield Street in the Acomb area of York at around 10.45pm on 4 June.

They arrived to find a campervan on fire and two nearby parked cars partially melted.

The fire also damaged windows of nearby homes and a business premise.

A number of homes were evacuated for just under an hour.

Officers say the suspect is in custody for questioning and that there's no wider threat to the public.
