Witnesses sought after fatal crash near York leaves 43-year-old man dead
Police appealing for information as Scott Proudlock from Malton is named as victim of crash on A64
Police are seeking witnesses and information after a man died in a crash on the A64 near York during the early hours of Monday, 20th October.
The collision happened at around 2.50am on the eastbound carriageway between the A1036 (Tadcaster Road) and A19 (Fulford Interchange) junctions.
According to police, the incident involved a white Ford Transit Connect van and a stationary Volvo HGV that was parked in a layby at the side of the road.
The driver of the van, Scott Proudlock, a 43-year-old man from the Malton area, died at the scene.
The HGV driver was not injured and is assisting officers with their enquiries.
After the collision, the A64 was closed in both directions.
Police reopened the westbound carriageway at 7.15am.
The eastbound carriageway remained shut formore time to allow investigation work and vehicle recovery, finally reopening at 11.15am.
North Yorkshire Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the Transit van beforehand, or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
