A19 shut after serious collision near Thirsk

Police are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision on the A19 near Great Thirkleby, close to Thirsk.
The road is closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed for some time while emergency services respond and inquiries are carried out.
The Ambulance Service and air ambulance have been at the scene and one person is reported to have been taken to hospital.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area where possible and plan alternative routes.
