93 new affordable homes could be built in York city centre

The proposal for the Castle Mills site aims to boost both the number and quality of homes available, with support coming from a mix of government and regional funding

Plans to deliver almost 100 affordable homes on York’s Castle Mills site are being discussed by councillors next week (3 March).

The development would sit between Piccadilly and the River Foss, with extra costs expected due to land contamination and flood prevention, but funding is in place to help cover this.

Separate proposals also look to add new pitches and upgrade facilities on York’s Gypsy and Traveller sites, aiming to tackle housing needs and cut energy bills for families.
