York Art Gallery is bustling with activity as curators prepare to unveil "Turner, Wedgwood & Beyond: Inspired by Flaxman," featuring J.M.W. Turner's masterpiece "Ulysses deriding Polyphemus – Homer’s Odyssey."

On loan from the National Gallery, Turner's iconic artwork has taken centre stage in the new exhibition, opening to the public on Friday, 18th September.

The exhibition will showcase prestigious works from artists such as Josiah Wedgwood, William Blake, Angelica Kauffman, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, and William Etty.

To complement the exhibition, a series of creative workshops and gallery talks are planned for the autumn and winter, and related retail products are already available at the gallery's shop.

The impressive Turner piece, part of the curators' latest effort following their successful exhibition "Making Waves: The Art of Japanese Woodblock Print," is now installed, with final touches nearing completion.

"Turner, Wedgwood & Beyond: Inspired by Flaxman" will run until 17th January 2027 and is included in general admission to York Art Gallery.
