79-year-old woman dies after being hit by car in Prestwich

An investigation is ongoing as police seek witnesses

A 79-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car on Bury New Road in Prestwich, Bury.

The incident occurred at around 8pm on Thursday 5th February, when officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit were called to reports of a collision involving a Volvo S90 and a pedestrian.

The driver of the Volvo, who is in his 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

Appeal for Witnesses

Police are now appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

They are interested in speaking to individuals who have CCTV footage, dashcam, or mobile phone footage from the moments leading up to the collision.
