Suspect charged with eight further offences in connection with historic child sexual abuse

As part of Operation Lytton, detectives investigating non-recent child sexual exploitation in Rochdale, have secured additional charges

Greater Manchester Police's CSE Major Incident Team have charged a suspect with eight further offences in connection with Operation Lytton – an ongoing investigation into non-recent child sexual exploitation in Rochdale.

Tahir Rashid (13/12/70) of Hudsons Walk, Rochdale has been postal charged with eight further offences, including rape and indecent assault with a girl under the age of 16.

He is currently remanded in custody after being charged with 13 offences, including rape and penetrative sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16 in May 2023.

Rashid is due to stand trial for those alleged offences in September 2025.

On Wednesday, 23rd July 2025, he will appear in Manchester Magistrates' Court in relation to the new offences.
