Yorkshire Water urges people to use water wisely as heatwave spikes demand
It comes after a hosepipe ban imposed across Yorkshire for much of last year

Yorkshire Water is calling for customers to use water wisely as the UK experiences soaring temperatures this week.
The utility firm says its seen soaring demand over the past few days with paddling pools filling up, gardens being watered, and extra showers being taken.
1.485 billion litres was used across the region yesterday (June 23) — 150 million litres more than the seasonal average.
That's enough water to supply Leeds for an entire day.
As temperatures continue to climb, demand is expected to hit 1.49 billion litres on the heatwave’s peak day later this week.
Andy Shaw, Head of Water Production at Yorkshire Water says: “With temperatures climbing people will understandably be making the most of the sunshine, and with an increase in temperature we see increased water demand."
"Small changes by everyone can make a big difference and help save thousands of litres of water.
"Simple actions such as using a watering can instead of a hosepipe, watering plants in the morning or evening rather than in the heat of the day, waiting until washing machines and dishwashers are full before putting them on, and turning off the tap while brushing teeth can all play a vital role in helping to protect resources.”
Yorkshire Water imposed hosepipe restrictions for much of last year after the region experienced a drought.
