West Yorkshire Police officer to face retrial over allegation of rape

The 43 year old was cleared of eight offences during a trial earlier this year - with jurors unable to reach a verdict on one count of rape

A West Yorkshire Police officer is to face a retrial over an allegation of rape.

43 year old PC Jo Lavender, who was formerly based in the Leeds district, was cleared earlier this year of six counts of rape and two of indecent assault at York Crown Court.

The alleged victims were adult women and a girl under the age of 14 years old.

The jury were unable to reach a verdict in relation to once count of rape.

A retrial has been scheduled at York Crown Court on October 12 2026.

He remains suspended from duty.
