Woman suffers 'life-threatening' injuries in crash on A1 near Wetherby
Police were called to the northbound carriageway between Junctions 45 and 46 earlier today
A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries following a crash which has shut parts of the A1(M) near Wetherby for much of the day.
A black Mercedes C250 travelling northbound collided with a black Volvo XC60 that was stationary on the hard shoulder between Junctions 45 and 46 - at around 10am this morning.
Both vehicles came to a rest in the middle of the road.
The Volvo driver, a woman in her 50s, was taken to hospital.
The driver of the Mercedes has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
