A West Yorkshire man has been jailed for nearly five years after pleading guilty to a series of domestic abuse offences, including harassment and intentional strangulation.

TJ Bunn, 32, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on December 5 to four years and 11 months in prison.

He was also handed an indefinite restraining order and described as “a dangerous offender” by the judge.

The offences, which included harassment causing fear of violence, two counts of intentional strangulation, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, were committed over three years while Bunn was in a relationship with the victim.

Bunn was already serving time for separate, unrelated offences when the victim reported the abuse to police.

Following her report, Bunn was remanded into custody in May 2025 and subsequently pleaded guilty to the charges in October before being sentenced earlier this month.

Detective Sergeant Rebecca Westerman, of West Yorkshire Police, said:

“The victim showed great strength and bravery to report Bunn’s offending."

"I hope the sentence he has received today will be of some comfort to her and give her some closure.

"I also hope it will encourage other victims of controlling and coercive behaviour to come forward and report these matters, so they can be thoroughly investigated, and perpetrators can be brought to justice.”
