Man seriously injured in Wakefield city centre stabbing

A man has suffered serious injuries after a stabbing in Wakefield over the weekend.

Police were called at 7:09pm to the city centre after reports of an assault, finding the 61 year old victim with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a section 18 wounding with intent offence and remains in police custody.
