Wakefield Trinity have secured new talent from Australia, with the departure of one of this season's stars in Super League confirmed.

Mason Smoothy is leaving The Trin, who have just signed hooker Mason Teague from Queensland Cup side Burleigh Bears.

The 23 year old previously played NRL with the Dolphins.

Mason Teague told the Trinity website: “I’m really excited to come over to Super League for the next two seasons."

"Wakefield are an incredibly strong club who are really going places and going well this year and I hope I can add to that upon joining.

"With the signings the club have made for next season, I know this club can kick on again. I know the fan base at Wakefield really gets behind the team and I can’t wait to meet all the fans.”

Meanwhile, standout performer Tyson Smoothy has been released by The Trin on compassionate grounds.

He's heading back Down Under to join NRL newcomers Perth Bears on a three year contract.
