Drugs and cash have been seized in Wakefield after a series of police raids executed over the past two weeks.

The operation, which involved searches at addresses across Hemsworth, South Elmsall, South Kirkby and Ackworth, resulted in eight arrests on suspicion of drug supply offences.

Among the substances seized are crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine, amphetamines, and cannabis, along with cash suspected to be linked to criminal activity.

One of those arrested, 36-year-old Emmie Worth of Grove Drive, South Kirkby, has been charged with drug-related offences.

Worth has been remanded in custody ahead of her next court appearance at Leeds Crown Court on December 29.

The other seven have been interviewed and released under investigation.

Detective Sergeant Kirsty Senior, of West Yorkshire Police, said:

“We are determined to make our communities safer by acting on information about individuals who exploit others for their own gain."

"Over the past fortnight, we have taken thousands of pounds worth of illegal substances off our streets and seized cash suspected of being linked to criminality.

“I would like to thank members of the public who have provided information to the police about suspicious activity or potential drug supply offences.

"I hope that the positive action we have taken shows that we will act on such information and reporting your concerns really can make a difference.”
