Tributes paid to cyclist who died in crash in Wakefield

A cyclist who died in a crash in Wakefield last Wednesday has been named as 66 year old Nigel Riley from Horbury.
He was involved in a crash with a grey Omoda 5 SUV on the southbound A636 Denby Dale Road near the traffic light junction with Thornes Road at 10:05pm on July 16.
His brother shared a tribute on behalf of the family, writing: "He was a much-loved brother, brother-in-law, and friend to many. He will be missed."
An investigation into the crash continues, with the driver of the car speaking to police last week.
Detective Sergeant Steve Suggitt of West Yorkshire Police said: “Sadly, Nigel Riley passed away in hospital last week."
"It is important that we get answers for his family about the events that have led up to his death.
"This collision has occurred at a major road junction, and we are appealing to anyone who believes they have seen either the Omodo SUV or Nigel’s bike before this collision to please get in contact.
"We would also ask any motorists who were in the area and have dashcams fitted to check if they have captured any part of this incident.”
